Smartphone Poker Games
Another tactic used by mobile poker players, smartphone poker players and standard poker players in online mobile casino games and live casinos respectively, is by applying or using Pot Odds in their poker games. An example of how this is achieved will show exactly how to use pot odds in poker. Let us assume that the mobile poker player is dealt an Ace and a King on a board of three, nine, five and eight. The player is virtually completely certain that their opponent holds a top pair in their respective smart phone poker hand. This means that an Ace or a King that is dealt next by the dealer will most certainly win the mobile poker player the hand and round. This gives the mobile poker player six outs, for the three outstanding aces and three left over kings.
The smart phone poker player holding the above mentioned poker hand therefore knows that their two cards, namely the Ace and the King as well as the four cards that have been dealt to the board which are the three, nine, five and eight. However, there are still forty six cards in the poker game that the mobile poker player has not yet seen. From those remaining forty six cards only six will ensure the mobile poker player the win and forty will ensure that they do not or might not win the round. This is an odds ratio of forty six to six chances of winning the hand which then becomes less and diminishes to six point five to one odds. The conclusion here is that the mobile poker player needs better than six point five to one odds in order to realistically carry on with the hand or round.
Knowing that these calculations are very rough estimates of the Pot Odds, they will always be difficult for the smart phone poker player to calculate in their heads while they are playing the poker hand. As a result of this, successful mobile poker players must memorise certain poker odds before they even sit down to play a game of poker. The most important poker odds to memorise are the following. Your odds of flopping a set from a pocket pair are about eight to one. Your odds of making a flush on the next card if you flop a four flush are about four to one, if you get to see both cards it is closer to two to one odds. Your odds of making a straight on the next card if you are open ended are around five to one. If you have four outs with one card to come you are roughly eleven to one, two outs and you are around twenty two to one, one out and you are forty five to one odds.
